Hi Joanna
I think your FMP blog is looking fantastic, great attention to detail. There are only minor elements to look at:
- Make sure your documentary reviews are complete and attached to your blog please.
- Survey responses - when your survey responses are all in, analyse your data and explain how it would have informed your documentary
- Make sure pre-production is complete
Thank-you for your hard work so far Joanna!
Thanks,
Paul

My Animated Title
So I started off by handwriting Dog and Horses on my IPad. I was thinking of ideas and didn't know where to start.
I opened Adobe Photoshop on my computer and began playing around with fonts and layouts. I chose Bodoni 72 for the font in all caps because I liked the classy look.
I then inserted two drawings I created for my storyboard. Unfortunately, these two drawings were a bit too cartoonish and blocky for the look I was going for.
Deciding to go for a more straightforward approach, I looked up horseshoe designs and created my own horseshoes. I also designed several paw prints. This is where I got the idea to have the paw prints walk by the text.
I opened the Adobe Photoshop file in Adobe After Effects. This allowed me to keep the layers and the order in which they were created. I took inspiration from the Marauders Map used in the 3rd Harry Potter film. I wanted to paws to fade in and out. One of the problems I had was that I had no idea how to make it realistic. So I searched dog walks on youtube to get a reference video.

I came across this very helpful video.
Using the opacity settings, I faded the pawprints in and out using keyframes. I then highlighted all the keyframes and added the Easy Ease effect to make it all smooth and even. This took a long time to do, but I am delighted with the results.
I thought keeping the horseshoes stationary looked a bit odd. After experimenting some somewhile, I decided to make them swing and fall. This took a while, but I used the rotation settings and adjusted each keyframe until it looked realistic. One of the problems I had was the fall. I'm still not satisfied with how the fall looks when the first shoe goes down. If I had more time, I would definitely rework this animation part.
Before the animation started, I adjusted the opacity settings so the text fades in. Then, I made the text fade out at the end of the animation. I used the Easy Ease effect to get the change to transition smoother.
Overall I'm incredibly pleased with how presessional and classy this title looks. I will be using it in my documentary. My favourite part about the animation is when the paws cross the screen. I think the video helped immensely in helping it look lifelike.
